Mobile first even in the conference room
It is said that we look at our mobile phones up to 150 times a day. Our mobile stays at our side while we sleep, it wakes us up and it is the first thing we interact with in the morning Of course it affects the way we work, too. The Konftel Unite app is Konftel’s response to the mobile-first behavior that is also strongly established in the business world. And this is just the beginning.
“Being able to make use of employees’ phones brings all sorts of benefits,” explains Torbjörn Karlsson, Product Manager at Konftel. “With our free Konftel Unite app on their phone, employees can take all their contacts to their meeting and also use the phone’s calendar function to start the meeting right away. With one tap you can automatically input both meeting codes and phone numbers.”
Here at Konftel, we call the solution in the Konftel Unite app One Touch Conferencing. Simply tap once in the app on your phone and the conference unit will make the connection and enter the right meeting code. But this is just the beginning. There are many more benefits to be leveraged looking forward.

“For one thing the interface on a mobile is easier for the user to work than a little display on a conference phone, plus we can add new features and improve our conference phones via our app instead of having to replace or upgrade the actual conference unit.”
Moving the tablet into the conference room
Torbjörn Karlsson believes the Konftel Unite app will become an invaluable tool in conference rooms everywhere. A conference room could, for example, have a tablet permanently mounted in place, offering a simple interface to help everyone get their meetings started. The tablet might carry a dedicated meeting calendar just for that room and access to the company’s address book, so that everyone who enters the room simply has to tap a button to launch the meeting.
“We’re always learning from our users, which is another benefit of the app,” says Torbjörn Karlsson. “There are also times when we discover a need for better information. Some people think the app means using your own phone for audio transfer during the call, for example, which is not the case. The mobile is essentially an advanced and personal remote control for our conference phones, giving easy access to the features on the conference unit.”
This is just the beginning
What comes across as clear as day when listening to Torbjörn, and when we take a peek into the R&D department, is that the potential is only just starting to be exploited. All of Konftel’s users can expect the fascinating developments to continue, as the mobile phone plays an increasingly central role in both current and future Konftel products.
