A clear climate conscience

A win from distance meeting number one
With Konftel's conferencing products, there is a climate benefit from the very first distance meeting that replaces a business trip. And the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions doesn't first have to "pay off" the climate debt generated in the production and logistics chain. We have already taken care of that.
Three steps to certification
Climate Neutral is an independent, non-profit organization that works to reduce global carbon emissions. It certifies companies that have completed the three steps in their process. Find out more about the path to Climate Neutral certification.
1. We measure
We measure the company's entire carbon footprint from the previous year.
2. We offset
We offset all the emissions from the previous year by purchasing high-quality carbon credits.
3. We reduce
We are reducing our emissions from this year onward via action plans that set out clear measures.

Konftel measured Scope 1, 2 and 3 cradle-to-customer emissions following categories and approaches established in the Climate Neutral standards. We invested in projects outside of our value chain to compensate for all of our measured carbon emissions, with a total investment in Carbon Credits of $15,738.
Through Climate Neutral, we have invested in a selected set of projects to offset our carbon footprint. Here are four of the latest:
Solar Energy In China
The project involves a grid connected photovoltaic power plant located in Zhongyuan Village, Jingyuan County in the Gansu Province of China. Renewable energy is fed into the power grid, replacing mainly fossil-fuel.
This reforestation project restores degraded land, previously cleared of native forest for agriculture and cattle grazing. It totals 1,209.37 hectares with the goal of establishing a mature forest ecosystem.
The Hebei Guyuan Wind Energy Project located in the North China Plain consists of 133 wind turbines to supply clean, renewable electricity to the grid North China Power Grid instead of via coal-fired power plants.

What’s a carbon credit?
A carbon credit is a standard unit which represents carbon emission reductions. One credit equals one tCO2e (tCO2e stands for tonnes (t) of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent (e). Carbon credits are generated through a variety of projects and technologies, ranging from reforestation initiatives that sequester (suck up) CO2, to micro-grid solar projects which substitute fossil fuel-based energy production with reliable clean sources of energy that don’t emit greenhouse gases into our atmosphere.
What does tCO2e mean?
There are six main greenhouse gases, and each of these gases impacts global warming with a different intensity. Because of this, it's helpful to convert all gases to a single unit: tCO2e. tCO2e stands for tonnes (t) of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent (e). One tonne is the same as a metric ton, or 2,200 pounds. Carbon dioxide equivalent is a standard unit for counting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions regardless of whether they’re from carbon dioxide or another gas, such as methane.
