Konftel Ego wins Red Dot Award
Remote meeting experts Konftel and design agency Struktur Design have won a Red Dot Award for the Konftel Ego speaker phone. In the design world, the Red Dot Awards are considered to be the world championships for industrial design. "Thanks to very strong teamwork, Konftel Ego is now being rewarded as one of the best in the world in the Communication category at the Red Dot Awards. This is a fine endorsement of our design's global quality," says Peter Renkel, CEO at Konftel.
The motivation from Red Dot is: "With its small, compact form, the Konftel Ego is flexible in use and convinces with good sound and intuitively understood functions". The Red Dot Award is operated by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany. In 2015, more than 5,200 contributions from 57 countries were contestants, making this one of the world's largest design contests. The Red Dot jury has 41 selected experts, who ranked Konftel Ego as one of the world's best in the Communication category.
"We worked according to the three guidelines of sound, design and user-friendliness," explains Tord Berggren, who led the design work at the industrial design agency Struktur Design, which is Konftel's long-term partner. "Based on the technical specifications, we wished to create a product that would be cool to own, and also simple to use, and meet Konftel's high requirements for perfect acoustic quality."

New product category for Konftel
With Konftel Ego, Konftel meets the demands of a new meeting culture, where mobility is a key concept. Today, everyone wants to be able to hold remote meetings outside the big conference rooms, and Konftel Ego is a good solution, with its compact size and high acoustic quality. It also needs to function all over the world, since today Konftel is represented in most of the world's markets.
"The global perspective is always a challenge," Torbjörn Karlsson explains. "Yet we've always been confident about letting our Swedish background influence our design, and now this has been endorsed by the international jury of the Red Dot Awards."
Red Dot ranked Konftel Ego as one of the best in the world. The actual presentation ceremony takes place on 4 July in Essen. Konftel Ego is a speaker phone that is based on Konftel's patented OmniSound® acoustic technology, which delivers crystal-clear HD sound and has made Konftel one of the world's largest conference phone manufacturers.
