Konftel ZTI – Just plug it in
Give customers IP conference phones that just need to be plugged in to use. Thanks to our Konftel ZTI service you can prepare devices simply and automatically via a web portal.
Both end-customers' IT administrators and full-service distributors and dealers can benefit from Konftel ZTI – Zero Touch Installation. That the IP conference phones do not need to be unpacked to be configured before being sent to end-users saves both time and money.
Konftel ZTI simplifies auto-provisioning for the Konftel 300IP. The web-based service directs phones to the appropriate provisioning server for automatic download of settings. The concept is well proven and is used for various types of network-connected IT equipment.
Now it's time for conference phones to be administered with equally effective tools. Tools that not only make new installations much easier, but that also simplify product replacements and software upgrades.

How Konftel ZTI works
Zero Touch Installation is an add-in for auto-provisioning that is supported in the Konftel 300IP. Konftel's ZTI service forwards the conference phone to the correct provisioning server.
The flow in brief:
- The Konftel 300IP/300IPx is connected to the data network and started.
- There is either a provisioning server already specified in the phone or the phone queries the network’s DHCP server for the location where the settings can be downloaded. If neither of the alternatives is successful, the Konftel 300IP/300IPx can instead go out on the Internet to access Konftel’s ZTI server through an encrypted connection.
- ZTI provides the phone with the address of the provisioning server where the configuration file in XML format can be downloaded. Neither the provisioning server nor the SIP server with which the phone will register needs to be in the company’s local network; they can be resources in the cloud, accessible via the Internet. The Konftel 300IP/300IPx restarts and goes to the appropriate server to download the configuration file. The account is registered and teleconferencing can begin.

User case

iCentrex wants to make things even easier
iCentrex has received considerable recognition for the ease of administration in its cloud-based unified communications. They are now taking another step in the same direction and making it easy to add conference phones to customers' solutions.
“The devices shouldn't need to come to us first before delivery to the customers. We can solve this with the support of Konftel Zero Touch Installation, says Samuel Beckstrand.”
Auto provisioning
It's basically about remote configuration of IP conference phones via a data file with settings. The devices download the file from a provisioning server, sometimes referred to as a device management server. The function is also used when centrally upgrading phone software. How this is done is described in our Quick Guide: Konftel 300IP Device Management.
IP Telephony in brief
An IP phone is connected to a data network, the same as a computer. Like a computer, it has an IP address and the call is transmitted as data packets over the network. With an IP phone you can both call other IP phones (without leaving the network) and conventional phones over the public telephone network.
SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol and is a standardized protocol for connecting phone calls via networks – in some cases via the Internet. To make and receive calls, the phone has to be registered in an SIP PBX. It can be either a company PBX or one hosted by an IP telephony service provider.
